A‌ wind turbine shaft is considered one of the main elements in the drive system of a modern wind power plant. It conveys mechanical energy produced by rotor blades to gearbox or generator. Considering that wind turbines work continuously being loaded and their shaft being exposed to different wind conditions, it should be able to resist great torsion forces and very long fatigue stresses.
